If you’re looking for quality viscose fabrics in the UK, then our range includes everything you could hope for!

Popular Types Of Viscose Fabric

Viscose fabrics come in many varieties meaning it’s just as versatile as cotton. This fabric is blended with other fabrics or materials to make a new type of viscose that could be suitable for plenty of applications.

Linen Viscose Fabric

Viscose linen fabric combines viscose with linen fibres to give you a fabric that’s woven rather than knitted. The combination of these fabrics provides a wonderful drape to the material and a new sense of breathability. It’s perfect for dresses, trousers or lightweight bed sheets.

Viscose Crepe Fabric

If you’re looking for excellent sewing fabrics with high affordability. It’s woven in a crepe weave to give a crinkled texture and is another beautiful fabric for dresses and skirts. There’s more weight to crepe viscose making it more comfortable and supportive to wear.

Viscose Challis Fabric

A fluid fabric that takes the lightweight nature of viscose to new levels. It’s so soft to the touch and provides a beautiful drape when used in dressmaking. Challis is the highest version of fabric and many swap out their linen viscose for it during summer to make truly light and flowy throws and blankets.

Viscose Jersey Fabric

Enjoy a stretch fabric that’s comfortable to wear and rivals polyester for its elasticity. Jersey is the perfect fabric blend for outdoor and sports clothing. It incorporates elastane to make the fabric stretchier while retaining the breathable quality you know and love from plain viscose.

Viscose Twill Fabric

This variation is a fabric destined for greatness in cooler months. The twill weave gives a diagonal ridge pattern to this range and adds more weight to the material. You end up with something heavier than cotton and polyester, yet excellent at retaining heat when the temperature drops.

You can buy all types of viscose in many colours, including the ever-popular ivory for a classic look. This fabric is suitable for so many DIY project ideas – whether you’re looking to make new knitted accessories or the perfect summer dress!

What Is Viscose?

Viscose fabric is interesting as many believe it’s synthetic like polyester. On the contrary, it’s derived from natural plant materials – like cotton or Hessian.

The key difference is that this fabric is made from the pulp of plants/trees (also known as cellulose). From here, this pulp is chemically treated to make fibres that are weaved together to make this fabric. It means the fabric is technically man-made like polyester, yet still a natural material.

The production of this material is done as a direct way to create an alternative to cotton that’s easier to find and cheaper to manufacture. As such, it holds many of the same features as cotton, such as:

  • Impressive breathability
  • A lightweight texture
  • Incredible versatility
  • Very soft to touch
  • An excellent drape
