Expert Sewing Tips for Ripstop

1. Seal Your Seams: While the nylon itself is highly water-resistant, your sewing machine needle will create tiny holes. If you are making a tent or a waterproof coat, you must apply a liquid seam sealer or waterproof seam tape to the inside of your stitches to ensure it remains 100% watertight.

2. Use Fine Pins or Clips: Because the fabric is tightly woven and waterproof, thick pins can leave permanent holes. Use fine silk pins within the seam allowance, or better yet, use sewing clips.

3. Needle Choice: Use a sharp, fine needle (like a Microtex 70/10) to pierce the nylon cleanly without snagging the reinforcing grid.
