Expert Sewing Tips for Broderie Anglaise

Lining is Key: Because this fabric features “Eyelet” holes, it is not 100% opaque. For skirts and dresses, we recommend using a lightweight Cotton Voile or Lawn Fabric as a lining to maintain modesty while keeping it breathable.
Finishing Edges: The holes can make hemming tricky. A narrow rolled hem works best, or you can use bias binding to finish the hemline for a neat, professional look.
Pattern Placement: Avoid placing a large column of eyelet holes right where your seam line needs to go. Shift your pattern piece slightly to sew through the solid cotton, not the air!
