Expert Sewing Tips for Waterproof Fabric

1. Seam Sealing: While the fabric itself is 100% waterproof, your sewing machine needle will punch tiny holes into it! To keep your final project completely watertight (like a boat cover or awning), we highly recommend applying a Seam Sealer Tape or liquid seam sealant over your stitches on the reverse side.

2. Use Clips, Not Pins: Do not use standard sewing pins to hold your fabric pieces together, as they will leave permanent holes in the waterproof PU coating. Use sewing clips (or binder clips) instead.

3. Needle & Thread: For the heavier 7oz fabric, use a Heavy Duty (Jeans) needle (Size 90/14 or 100/16) and a bonded polyester or nylon thread. Do not use cotton thread for outdoor projects, as the cotton will absorb water and eventually rot.
