Expert Sewing & Crafting Tips for Hessian

1. Handling Fraying: Because hessian has a loose, open weave, the raw edges will naturally fray when cut. If you are making table runners, we recommend using a zig-zag stitch (or an overlocker) on the edges, or applying a thin line of clear PVA glue to seal the fibers.

2. Ironing: Hessian can arrive folded and creased. You can iron it flat! Use a medium-hot iron with plenty of steam, but place a damp pressing cloth over the fabric to protect it from scorching.

3. The Natural Scent: As a 100% natural jute product, it may have a slight earthy scent upon arrival. Simply unroll it and let it air out in a dry, well-ventilated space for 24 hours before use.
