Expert Upholstery Tips

1. Handling Chenille: Chenille fabrics can fray when cut because of the pile. We recommend using an Overlocker (Serger) or a Zig-Zag stitch on the raw edges immediately after cutting to stop them unraveling.

2. Needle Choice: Use a Universal 100/16 or Jeans Needle. You need a thick needle to push through the dense basketweave structure.

3. Nap: Chenille has a “Nap” (brushing it one way looks darker, the other way lighter). Always cut your pattern pieces with the nap running in the same direction (usually “down” the furniture) for a consistent colour.
